There is a production method of molding soft foam in polyurethane foaming, which is to mix polyurethane raw materials and directly inject them into the mold for foaming, so the shape of foam products is completely determined by the mold.

The molding and foaming process of polyurethane soft foam is mainly used to manufacture seat cushions, cushions, headrests, etc. of vehicles, ships, aircraft and furniture. Generally, the finished products have good aging resistance. In long-term use, the loss of product thickness and bearing capacity is very small. Therefore, the production of molded foam has developed rapidly.

High pressure or low pressure foaming machine can be used for soft foam production. The production of molded polyurethane soft foam can be divided into two processes: hot curing and cold curing.

1. The reaction activity of raw materials for hot curing molding foam is low. After the reaction mixture is foamed in the mold, it needs to be heated together with the mold. The foam products can only be demoulded after fully maturing in the drying tunnel.

2. The raw materials used for cold curing molding have high reactivity. During curing, no external heating is required, and the curing reaction can be basically completed in a short time depending on the heat generated by the system. The raw materials can be demoulded within a few minutes after molding. Due to the characteristics of the raw material system and the foaming reaction process, most cold cured molded soft foams have high resilience and large depression ratio, which are generally called cold cured high resilience foams.
